I typically only use a PC because I don't have room anywhere for a desktop other than the basement.........and I hate the basement. I should also mention that I'm a grown adult.

I would prefer a desktop, not only for the improvement in performance but also the overheating issues that I usually have when trying to play anything that looks better than Minecraft. I know that they have those laptops that are designed to run high end games but there always loud as hell and they also get too warm on my legs. I mean at that point, whats the difference really, expending all that power and still having to use a cooling pad, why not just use a desktop in the first place?

Desktop for gaming, laptop for everything else.
Laptops usually aren't worth it for gaming, although you can take it anywhere, most laptops are super pricey and for the same price you could get a way better gaming desktop. However, the laptop is very versatile for other tasks.

Desktop, always. I've gamed on both, and once I got a good Desktop, I could never go back to laptop. I'm on my laptop for littler things, like school work and random browsing, sometimes netflix, but I'm on my desktop for gaming. The graphics are better, the speed is faster, and the quality is just overall better.

Agreed the price for a laptop that can game decent is crazy compared to a Desktop.

If you have the extra cash I say go both
I have my desktop for gaming which mine is top of the line so of course I don't want to say specs or price..

Then I have a Macbook for my everyday life, (Facebook, Work, etc)

I used to own a competent laptop, but I'm sick of the lack of upgradeability and the short lifespann. I got myself a nice desktop with GTX 780 and i7 3770k with dual monitors and I couldn't be happier.

If you're interested in playing PC games, it's better for you to get a desktop PC for your gaming instead of having a gaming laptop. There's no way a laptop will have better performance than a PC. I make use of PC for my games.
